Ramadan, This Year Felt Different

Ramadan, This Year Felt Different

Ramadan has just passed.

And this year… it carried more than usual.

There is always a certain stillness that comes with Ramadan.
A softness in the air.
A rhythm that slows everything down—just enough for you to notice what you usually don’t.

The quiet before iftar.
The sound of prayer in the distance.
The feeling of being held in something bigger than yourself.

But this year, that stillness wasn’t uninterrupted.

There were other sounds too.
Distant, unfamiliar, heavy.

Rockets.
War planes.
Alarms.

And somehow, they existed alongside the peace of Ramadan.

That contrast is hard to explain, but impossible to ignore.

Because Ramadan is not just about silence or calm—it’s about intention.
About choosing reflection even when the world feels unsettled.
About holding onto compassion when things feel uncertain.
About grounding yourself when everything around you feels… fragile.

This year reminded me of that more than ever.

It reminded me how strong this place is.
How deeply rooted the spirit of Ramadan is in the UAE.
How people continue to show kindness, generosity, and grace—no matter what is happening beyond.

There is something incredibly powerful in that.

In gathering at the table.
In sharing food.
In checking in on each other.
In choosing presence.

Not because everything is perfect—but because it isn’t.

And maybe that’s what Ramadan really gives us.

Not escape.
But perspective.

A way to return to what matters.
Again and again.

As we move into Eid, there’s a shift—you can feel it.
More light. More laughter. More celebration.

But I hope we carry something from this Ramadan with us.

A little more awareness.
A little more softness.
A little more gratitude for the quiet moments we do have.

From all of us at YALA—thank you for being here, for sharing this space, this time, this experience with us.

And if you felt this Ramadan the way we did… then you already know—

Some things are meant to be remembered, not just lived.

And in our own small way, we tried to hold onto that feeling.

We created something to reflect this month—not to define it, but to remember it.

Crimson Noor.

A quiet nod to the depth, the contrast, the emotion of this Ramadan.
Inspired by the Emirates, by tradition, by everything we felt and witnessed.

We’ll keep it for just a little longer—through Eid.

Then, like Ramadan, it too shall pass.
